We attempted to see the new Crazy Horse monument being sculpted, but at $10 a person to drive in, we voted against it, they did let us drive up and take a picture. So here it is, a picture of the unfinished Crazy Horse.

South Dakota

We took a trip to Deadwood, SD, where Christina, Steve, and Steve's brother Keith were running in a 1/2 marathon. Of course we had to make a trek to Mount Rushmore, a sight we have never visited, but it was sure worth the trip.

The first picture is of the big guys in a shot we took standing just below them, Jorge at the entrance, with the big guys watching overhead. Jorge and I posed in front of one of the many beautiful views, and a bust of how the carving was originally meant to look. As imposing as it is, I am very impressed they finished the monument in 14 years. If you read the info on the four presidents, you discover Lincoln and and Washington did not attend college, but Jefferson went to The College of William and Mary, of which Jorge just happened to be wearing a tee shirt showing off Christina's Alma Mater. Roosevelt went to that other school, I cannot remember the name :) .

Four Men and an Oven

I cannot begin to express how difficult it was to put the new double ovens in our new home, but let us say after 3.5 hours of Steve, Chad and Jorge lifting it up, taking it down, and then making adjustments to the wall fitting- my guess is they lifted the 300 lb. oven 20 times, they were not happy campers. That is Chad's dad, Melvin, supervising, and supplying the correct tools. (Steve, Chad, Jorge, Melvin)

Our New House

We decided to "update" our new home, beginning with the kitchen. We are changing the appliances (they will still be white), adding new quartz countertops, and in the near future, putting in better flooring and most definitely removing some wall paper. For starters, we are changing the handles on some of the cabinets. The white is the old, the brushed nickel is the new. I made the quilt on our bed, and the antique quilt hanging on the quilt rack is from a friend. It was a thank you gift to me, and will become a favorite to show off. It is depression era, and in very good condition, made by a woman in Riverton, WY.
