Ramirez Family
Another fun night at the Ramirez outpost. Dad and I were heading to a Ranchester for dinner at a co-workers of Dad's and decided to drive through the little town, and maybe find a place to have a glass of wine. There seemed to be only one place that offered any 'refreshments' so we took our chances at "The Silver Spur." The name should have been a give away of things to come. We were walking in the door as some young lady ran out past us to talk to someone in a car, leaving the bar door open, and the pool stick she was using laying across the threshold.
Dad and I poke our head into this smoky, pretty crowded, slightly rowdy bar, and decide we'll pass. But before we could walk out the door, this lady grabs our arms, tells us we must come in, the drinks are on her, and she isn't going to take 'no' for an answer! Dad and I get lead to the bar, past the crowd around the pool table, which "Howie" (the bar owner and our new best friend) says their is a pool tournament going on. Looked like quite the fun tournament!
We sit at the bar where Howie tells the barmaid the drinks are on her, Dad orders a beer, and dummy me orders a red wine. Barmaid: "Howie, do we even have red wine?" Howie: "Yes we do, we have Sutters Home 'Marlow'." I knew this was really an adventure for us. Dad's beer arrived in a mug as big as any pitcher I have ever seen, and yes, my wine did come from a bottle. Good job Howie.
We sipped slightly on our drinks, left a nice tip and snuck out, as Howie explained, "I'm sorry I'm so drunk, this tournament has been going on since 10:30 this morning, so that's a lot of partying."
Howie also told us she knew this was our first time in her bar, and I think that alone might earn a visit back, only in a small town would that happen.
We did have a great night for dinner too.

Ha ha, I love it! Sounds like a typical, yet wonderful, small town incident. :)
